England Day: Celebrating 1100 Years of England
With or without an official bank holiday Monday on 12th July 2027, we’re celebrating England Day on the weekend of 10th-12th July 2027.
What is England Day?
It’s a weekend long celebration of 1100 years of England since its foundation in 927.
What are we doing? We’re mustering an army. Well, we’re investigating the possibility of assembling every reenactment group in England from Anglo Saxon, medieval, English Civil War and beyond for one big parade.
Tents, toffee apples, flagons of mead and the swords of a thousand men as Ten Pole Tudor once suggested. Or 1100 men and women. With swords or otherwise. Some may have lanyards and leaflets.
Venue TBA but the centre of England looks favourite, and Tamworth pops out for historial reasons as well as being right in the middle. In the meantime, here’s some Ai promo as a starter:

England Day: There are too many bank holidays already…
Yes, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Like most things, the British Government gives you more, like St Andrew’s Day and St Patrick’s Day. So why not St George’s Day?
The British Government has consistently refused to celebrate St George’s Day on April 23rd, which is also William Shakespeare’s birth (and death) day. Andy Burnham owes England one for Scotland and two for Northern Ireland. So how about a one off, day off? England Day 2027.
England Day: It’s too expensive to mention England…
It’s much cheaper for England to gift extra funding, per head, for the citizens of anywhere else but England.
Except if you live in London where you’ll receive 13% more than the UK average, per person, for living near Westminster. But, as Horatio Nelson pointed out: “England expects that every man will do his duty” and have a large lady in a blue dress next to his column.
